I’ve made it my goal to make a photo at every lighthouse surrounding Lake Michigan by the end of 2017, Alex and I will be traveling to 15 of those lighthouses in Michigan over Spring Break, starting tomorrow! In February, I started my journey to photograph them all by visiting the Michigan City East Pierhead Light (feature photo above) – it was a beautiful evening.
I am excited because this will be the first trip I will take using the funds I have earned through Patreon and the photos I will make were directly made possible because of it.
I have created a publicly available map of all the lighthouses/shoals that are still active and or photo-worthy: (If you click on the star after the title “Lake Michigan Lighthouses” you can view it in Google Maps on your respective device, should you want to do the circle tour someday)
The lighthouses we will be visiting are:
- Old Mission
- Grand Traverse
- Robert H. Manning Memorial
- Point Betsie
- Frankfort
- Manistee
- Big Sable
- Ludington
- Little Sable
- South Haven
- White River
- Grand Haven
- Saint Joseph
- Holland
- Muskegon
Here are 3 of my favorite photos I took last time I visited the Saint Joseph Lighthouse:
